Description:

Do you love coffee and are you interested in learning the technical aspect of coffee roasting? Learn the science and art behind coffee roasting in our high volume, small batch coffee company as an assistant roaster. We roast coffee 5 days a week for wholesale, online and retail orders.  Prior work in some kind of coffee environment(cafe, roastery, etc...) required.

 
Responsibilities:

Assist in operating the coffee roaster and work up to roasting coffee independently under the supervision of the Master Roaster

Assist Master Roaster in receiving green coffee to meet daily production schedule. 

Participate in blending and weighing roasted coffee while maintaining great quality and adhering to visual standards set forth by Barriques. 

Participate in cupping and tasting samples for quality control.

Assist in the tracking inventory of green coffee beans, bags and other production materials. 

Develop necessary product knowledge (Coffee names, bag weights, etc). 

Gain experience operating grinders, green loaders and roasters. 

Perform daily maintenance for optimum machine capability on both the roasters and other roasting accessories. 

Properly record and follow S.O.P Protocols as laid out by Barriques. 

 
Requirements: 
  • Prior work in some kind of coffee environment(cafe, roastery, etc...) required

  • Prior coffee roasting experience a plus

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Interest and passion for quality coffee

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions in a noisy environment with various distractions.

  • Ability to reach above shoulder level, climb, balance, kneel, bend over, etc.

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to assemble small objects, boxes, etc.

  • Be physically active for 8 hours without becoming fatigued or out of breath.

  • Stand for 8 hours a day.

  • Frequently lift and or move 40+ pounds.

  • Occasionally lift and or move 75+ pounds.

  • Push / pull up to 1400 lbs with supplied equipment.

  • Must be comfortable working in both hot and cold environments.

     Employment Type:Up to Full Time
    Salary:$20 - $24/hr + benefits
