Description

Under the direction of the Commissary Manager, the Assistant Baker supports the daily production and packaging of bakery items including scones, cookies, bars, breads, glazes, and other specialty goods for Barriques cafés and wholesale customers. This role plays an important part in maintaining consistent product quality, ensuring efficient production flow, and supporting a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.

The Assistant Baker works collaboratively within a small production team, balancing speed and precision while maintaining Barriques’ commitment to excellence and consistency across all locations.


Responsibilities

  •  Accurately follow recipes, portioning standards, and daily production lists to maintain consistent quality and appearance.

  • Prepare, bake, and package baked goods according to established schedules and production goals.

  • Organize ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth daily and weekly production operations.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace; follow all daily and weekly cleaning procedures for equipment, tools, and prep areas.

  • Assist with labeling, inventory rotation, and product storage.

  • Communicate promptly with the Commissary Manager regarding supply needs, equipment issues, or production challenges.

  • Uphold Barriques’ food safety, sanitation, and quality standards at all times.


Requirements

  • General knowledge of mixing and making baked goods preferred.

  • 1–2 years of experience in a bakery or food service position.

  • Ability to read and follow recipes using weights and measures, and adjust as needed.

  • Able to communicate effectively and follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Works well within a team and independently and can meet daily production deadlines.

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Understands basic bakery preparation standards, food safety, and sanitation procedures.

  • Open to feedback and eager to learn new techniques and systems.

  • Demonstrates integrity, adaptability & reliability.


Hours: Wed - Sat ~1:00pm - 6:00pm

Employment Type: Part-time;  ~20-25hrs/week

Salary: $18 - $22/hr DOE
